Well, I thought I should probably do a post with a scrapbook layout, since that is such a large part of my life. First, I thought I would tell you why I enjoy this particular part of my life....
I have learned so much about me and had a much greater appreciation for the important things in my life thru scrapbooking. It's like this, I only scrapbook the things that are the most meaningful to me...(now don't be upset if I haven't created a page about you, it's only because I am not that far in my layout idea list....yet. Lol!!!)
Also, until recently have not had the luxury of having a "place" to create or making sure scrapbooking is a priority on my schedule. Just like most of you do the things you enjoy...reading, journaling, cooking, movies, etc.
We make the time for what's important to us.
Well, when I scrapbook, it "makes" me focus on the things I love....family, friends, love, relationships, milestones, events, family heritage, etc. Sometimes we don't always focus on the things we should due to life distractions, even the smallest of things can get in our way and keep us from doing the things we need to do or want to do.
So...in a nutshell, I scrapbook not just because I love all the stuff and the end result of my creation but more importantly I scrapbook because it makes me stop and reflect on the most valuable things in my life. It's the stuff that hits you in the heart, its those things that you couldn't live without. It makes me incredibly happy to reflect on those things. Scrapbooking allows me to think back to the good times and the bad, it makes me thankful for the life God has blessed me with. Ok, the stuff is really cool too.
I was blessed with "My Creative Space" by my wonderful husband at Christmas this last year. Our house has a loft upstairs and we couldn't decide what to "do" with it. Some of the options we thought of were a gameroom/media room, workout room, and my personal fav...a studio for me to create in. Well, it sat for 9 months with a extra tv for the kids and a lot of packed boxes of my creative stuff. So finally at on a Friday before Christmas my husband came to me and said, "Get in the car, I am taking you somewhere." Well, if any of you know me at all...my response was not that nice. Naaaah!!! not me???? Anyway, I finally squeezed it out of him, he had arranged for someone to watch the kids(thanks sis and mom), and told me he was taking me to Sacramento to the IKEA store to get my shelving and organizers for "My Creative Space". I flipped out...I was soooo happy. I had the loft space all mapped out...down to the exact measurements of all my stuff and exactly where I wanted to put it and how many boxes and organizers and the exact cost of everything. Although, that didn't keep me from looking at the catalog the entire 3 hour drive. I know he was happy that I was so happy too.
We stayed at the store for 2-3 hours and left when the lights were out not to mention the Burb was crammed packed with stuff. We even layed all the seats down to fit it all, big or small.
So the next day he worked to put my shelves and stuff together. Then I could unpack all my stuff and put it away. It was almost overwhelming all at once. So I called in emergency backup...my sis!!! She helped me to weed out and think straight. We got it all looking nice and organized. We had fun laughing and talking too. Finally it was done. So I thought I would share the final pics.....
I realize this pic is a little blurry...sorry...but you can still see. This is the IKEA shelf I have wanted for a long time. It's great with all the little squares to fill up.
This is actually where I sit/stand while I create...I love, love my table I work on. It's perfect...it's large enough to spread out. But greater than that is my sis gave it to me. It used to be their breakfast table, so it's pretty special to me. Did I say I love, love, love my table? Thanks sis!!!!
A better photo of the shelving unit...loaded down. I love all my boxes and jars. IKEA has the best stuff like that for supercheap..
The shelves on the top are also from IKEA...they hold all my mini books and projects I have made. The shelves on the bottom are from Office Depot...I love them because they hold a lot, they fit under the window and I can also use the top for more stuff.
I love those jars...the oversized sissors on the top shelf were given to me by my sis....I have always loved them.
So there you have it...I have changed some things in the space since I these pics were taken but overall it's the same look. Now when I look at those pics the room looks different to me...I think it's because I have done a lot of creating in this space since we put it all together. Just so you know, the cleaning and organizing doesn't go away because the room started organized. It is a continual process of cleaning out and moving things around. But it's like that with a lot of different areas in the house.
I am very thankful for "My Creative Space" but more important I am more thankful for my husband that blessed me with that space. Hugo...your awesome!!! I Love You!!!!
Well, since this post is titled "Layout Design" maybe I should add that.....
So this is the first design I created for the store....
This layout was made about Shine, as a Big Sis...the patterned paper is from Making Memories(Noteworthy).

So this is the first layout design I made for the store. I am having a blast on the design team. It gets me out of my box in creating and also "makes" me scrapbook.
I'll post more layouts later.
Sorry for the long post again...I'll shut-up for now.
Til next Time!!! T!!!
